Research reveals legal practice growth

The LMS annual Financial Benchmarking Survey, sponsored by Lloyds TSB Commercial, shows that practice fee income increased by 1 per cent in 2011, as practices continue to climb out of the hit from the recession. In 2009, firms saw a 6.5 per cent drop in fee income. However te number of support staff per fee earner has dropped.

Law Society to pilot compliance reference initiative

Law Society chief executive Desmond Hudson yesterday announced the launch of a pilot initiative to enable Compliance Officers for Legal Practice (COLPs) to submit enquiries to the Law Society, which, with the aid of a group of practitioners, will provide advice on major compliance problems.
