Edgware and central London-based solicitors Darlingtons defies the downturn

Edgware and central London-based solicitors Darlingtons is defying the downturn and expanding with new offices, new talent and new business. Darlington's attributes its success to blending the best in legal advice and client service with an understanding of changing world and technology advances.
Darlingtons has acquired two sole practitioners and is also opening new offices in Spring Villa Business Park in Edgware, with the potential for further expansion in the future. The firm, which covers commercial litigation, family, private client work, corporate work and property says that a highly successful and visible online presence, offering many practical legal guides, has helped it gain new business.
The north London firm has acquired ZSA Law of Northwood, with litigator Dhiren Arya joining the Darlingtons team. Nayna Kotecha, a specialist in shared ownership conveyancing, joins as part of the acquisition of Kotecha & Co of Harrow.
James Swede, Darlingtons senior partner, said: “We don’t intend to stop now. We have left room for further expansion at the new offices as we are seeing more business emerge from our online presence, as well as organic growth that comes with a successful, local business. We are also intent on expanding our presence in central London.
“Acquiring the sole practitioners gives us greater strength in-depth and we are delighted to have the experience and skills that Dhiren and Nayna bring to the team. We are already looking at a further acquisition and we are now being approached by other firms interested in plugging into our infrastructure .
“I know there are many firms who are able to expand, despite the gloomy economic times, but we are still a relatively new firm, having only set up in 1999. There has been a lot of talk of the demise of firms of our size. We are facing the opposite direction – onwards and upwards.”
Darlingtons gained recognition of its high standards earlier this year by securing the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation, having gone through a rigorous application and assessment. Yet Swede points out that its diversity in practice areas is helping Darlingtons go from strength to strength.
He said: “CQS shows we meet high standards in residential conveyancing, but we excel in a range of other services for clients, whether they be businesses or individuals.”
