Ogier appoints new Partner

Ogier has appointed Jonathan Hughes as a new partner with effect from 1st February 2012.
Jonathan joined Ogier in 2007 and specialises in commercial real estate. He qualified as a Jersey Advocate in 2011 and was recently the project manager of a 35 strong pan-Island team of lawyers and advisers in Jersey and Guernsey which acted for Waitrose when it acquired its supermarket business in the Channel Islands.
Before moving to Ogier Jonathan qualified as an English Solicitor in 2000 and an Australian Solicitor in 2005 having worked for a number of years at the international law firms Baker and Mackenzie and Mallesons Stephen Jacques. He has extensive experience in retail and office commercial developments, corporate re-locations, commercial leases and the global hotel and leisure sector. In Australia he developed an expertise for the commercial property aspects of Goods and Service Tax and is regarded as an authority in this area in Jersey.
