CPD for Solicitors
Only 1 in 5 to get training contracts but help is on its way!

25th August - The Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society has a host of plans to help you find a training contract or if not make sure that academic work counts...
Recent 'A' level results and the fierce competition for university places highlight the difficulties faced by students as they embark on their path to a legal career..say the JLD: The struggle continues after the degree, with both training contracts and newly qualified positions becoming harder to find. Becoming a solicitor is only one of many career paths in law though, and alternative routes may need to be considered. With this in mind, we are responding to a recent Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) consultation regarding accreditation of prior experience for exemptions to the legal practice course (LPC) and we would be very interested in hearing your views.
For those who have completed academic studies, the competition for training contracts is fierce - with an estimated five students for every place, the marketplace is saturated. To offer support the JLD are hosting a networking and careers event in Manchester with attendance from key trainee support groups in the region, career advisors and recruitment managers from local and national firms.
The JLD is running a free networking event in Manchester on Thursday 16 September from 18:00 until 21:00. The evening aims to provide support and guidance for anyone experiencing difficulties securing a training contract.
